World Medical Education collaborates in development of learning materials for Community Child Health in Malawi.

World Medical Education has joined with international partners and UCL Institute of Child Health to deliver multimedia training for community health workers in Malawi, as part of a strategy to improve the care of sick children in the community.

A series of fun, accessible modules will teach how to recognise and treat pneumonia, malaria, dehydration, malaria and malnutrition; and prevent disease through vaccination and bed net use.

Professor Chris O’Callaghan commented: “We are delighted to be part of this international collaboration and this exciting project which will greatly improve the quality of training for community health workers in Malawi. We believe that the materials will also be useful across sub-Saharan Africa, and hope that they will help to reduce child mortality.”
