Welcome to World Medical Education

A not for profit social enterprise

Millions of children and adults continue to suffer or die prematurely from illnesses that are preventable or treatable, contributed to by the huge shortage of well-trained health workers they can turn to for help.

“Teach one well and many will be saved”

Our video training programs, using actual clinical videos of patients, treatments, and procedures will teach hundreds of thousands health workers, reducing the needless suffering and deaths of so many children and adults in countries worldwide.

It is time to take this to scale – let’s do it now

‘There is a global gap of 18 million health workers’
- World Health Organisation

We believe video rich multimedia education will make a fundamental difference to the care of children and adults worldwide.

Imagine health workers globally having open access, state of the art, video intense, context specific multimedia education, and continuing education, across the full spectrum of diseases they see, wherever they work. Imagine linking this to the provision of multimedia educational initiatives for parents, their families and their communities, wherever they are.

That is the aim of World Medical Education

To develop and deliver open access, video intense, multimedia training and continuing education, ensuring health workers in the remotest areas of the poorest countries are not left behind.

To work with local medical experts, health workers, patients, families and communities and international leaders to ensure our educational programs are context specific and of the highest quality; and to research the clinical impact of programs developed.

To innovate and develop sustainable income streams to allow constant development and improvement of our educational programs through learner engagement, feedback and research.

Continuing education, that is essential to maintain the clinical skills of health workers in remote rural areas of resource poor countries is frequently poor or non-existent. This must change.

Supporting a project will have a lasting global impact

We deliver projects that are tailored to the needs of health workers in resource poor countries, working in partnership with centres in Africa and South East Asia; and also for health workers in countries such as the UK. If you support a project it really will have a global impact.

Target Audience

The World Health Organisation has identified a global gap of 18 million health workers that need to be found and trained. In addition, there are currently millions of community health workers, medical officers, nurses and doctors who need continuing education to maintain essential clinical skills. All deserve world-class medical education and continuing professional development so they can help to reduce the suffering and death of children and adults. Our aim is to develop training programs for health workers in all countries with a high priority given to the development of programs for those working in resource poor countries and to develop systems to ensure health workers in the remotest areas of the poorest countries benefit.

How we achieve

We aim to produce the highest quality of video intense multimedia educational programs for all cadres of health workers, from community health workers, to nurses, to medical officers, to doctors in the remotest settings. Each project will bring together team members from Africa and Asia; ensuring that programs are internationally relevant and engaging to a global audience. This is underpinned by our development platform which co-ordinates multiple projects across borders, with international peer review to ensure the highest standards of quality. We have recently developed an App/mobile phone/database that, uniquely, will deliver continuing video-based education to health workers in the remotest areas who do not have Internet access and allow remote assessment.

Why do we do it?

The majority of children and adults in the world have limited access to appropriately trained health workers. It is widely acknowledged that urgent investment is needed in training, professional development and continuing education of health workers worldwide. We believe that open-access state of the art, context specific, video intense multimedia training and continuing education will strengthen the development of the health workforce in all countries, empowering them to relieve the suffering and reduce the needless deaths of children and adults, leading to improvements in global health.
